Information about condoms

The male condom is a popular and well-known method of contraception.

Condoms come in many different shapes, sizes, colours, textures and flavours! There is bound to be a condom that suits you.

Condoms are used to stop sperm from entering the vagina, protecting against unwanted conception and from STIs.

They can also be used for oral and anal sex to protect both partners from STIs.

How to use a condom...

condom-1

Get ready...

Check the condom wrapper to make
sure that the condom is still in date.

Take it out of the wrapper - carefully!
- making sure that you don't rip it

condom-2

Put it on...

Place the condom over the tip
of the erect penis.

If the condom has a teat, use your
thumb and forefinger to squeeze
the air out of it.

condom-3

Roll it down...

Roll the condom down the shaft.

If it won't roll down, you've probably put it on the wrong way round. Try again with a new one.

condom-4

Use it...

After sex, take your penis out whilst it is still erect.

Take the condom off your penis, being careful not to spill any of the semen.

condom-5

Bin it...

Wrap the condom in tissue and throw it in the bin.

Don't put it down the toilet, it might block it!
